Cost & Usage Module#

The Cost & Usage module collects data from your Snowflake environment and builds a data model to support dashboards, reporting and analysis of Snowflake usage and the relative costs of your workflows. It gives administrators and data teams visibility into where compute spend is going and which data assets deliver the most value.

Admin Jobs#

Administrators configure the location and schedule of the data collection and analysis jobs that power the module:

Dashboards#

The module provides two dashboards:

Warehouse Spend

  • Overview: view spend trends across all of your warehouses
  • Warehouse Usage: breakdown of usage metrics (query count, credits, time) by date, user and warehouse

ROI Report

  • Overview: view trends around daily queries, clients and updates to data assets
  • Asset ROI: compare query load versus update cost for individual data assets

Data Exploration#

The data powering the dashboards is available for further exploration directly in the interface. Users can filter, aggregate and sort the underlying data, or export it into a Datameer Project for further analysis or data movement.

Getting Started#

Contact your Datameer account representative to enable the Cost & Usage module. Once enabled, an administrator will need to configure the data collection jobs before dashboards become available.
